Whatever happened to …………….Mario Van Peebles? By Maia Morgan

In an offhand conversation I was having with my roommate one day the movie Panther came up. He mentioned he had never seen the movie before. I haven't seen it since college and decided to refresh my memory. So hence a screening of the movie was to take place in our home about a week later. Upon viewing the movie I was struck with strong, powerful images of Black characters and thoroughly enjoyed a movie with fine acting and a great story. That got me to thinking whatever happened to Mario Van Peebles? As the director of Panther he gave new eyes to the Black Panther Party movement in Oakland, CA for those of us too young to have experienced those events firsthand. He had movie star good looks and directed some great flicks in the 90s. So where is he?
In the 90’s he was one of the premiere black directors to tell stories of inner city drug abuse and distress with his feature film directorial debut New Jack City. The film was hit and catapulted Wesley Snipes’ career. Posse followed shortly thereafter and it played a lot like a classic Sergio Leone spaghetti western. A Black soldier of the Spanish American war goes AWOL to avenge his lynched reverend father with the rest of his predominantly black infantry in tow. The most I remember about this movie was that it was a fun cowboy flick and very refreshing to see the portrayal of Black Cowboys due to the lack of their presence in films, TV, and history books. Panther was his follow up film and was basically a commercial flop. See it anyway if you haven’t. It tells and amazing powerful story and has a great cast with a lot of unexpected cameos. Solo was his next big film to follow and I’ll point out he was merely the star not the director. This was a very big miss. It was one of the most boring “action” films I’ve ever seen.( Anytime someone is playing a robot it really seems like they can’t act. That kind of thing is best left to Arnold.) But I thought surely if anything was to turn his career around it would have been Badassssss!, which was the film he directed and starred in playing his father Melvin Van Peebles as he attempted to film and distribute his birth to the blaxploitaion era Sweet Sweetback’s Badassss Song. The movie was a small scale independent film and didn’t fare too well at the box office despite its critical praise.

I looked up his info on IMDB and it seems Mr. Van Peebles is a much busier man than I gave him credit for. He merely made the transition to TV directing episodes of Damages, Law and Order and even an episode of Lost to include just some of his credits. He had made sporadic TV appearances in television and films but I wish he would get back in the director’s seat for more films. He had an honest voice and gave us positive, intelligent Black characters you don’t always get to see in films nowadays, if you do see any black characters. Come back Mario!!! Tyler Perry cannot be the only one doing black films.

Whatever Happened To Robin Lively?

So my friend the other day calls me up extremely psyched because her favorite show Gossip Girl was being filmed right in her neighborhood. My friend has a thing for Blake Lively. I don't watch the show nor do I really care about Blake Lively, but I couldn't help but ponder about her sister Robin who I totally looked up to in 1989. I mean for me, Robin Lively was the shit! Okay, okay her star status is not exactly equivalent to that of her younger sister Blake's, but we ALL remember seeing Robin back in the late 80's early 90s at some point.

Yall remember Teen Witch? This is the movie the made Robin a teen icon in my eyes. I sooooo wanted to be Louise Miller. Who didn't?? Okay for those of you living under a rock in 1989 and never saw the teen cult classic, Robin plays Louise Miller; an unpopular awkward girl in high school. One rainy night ( a week before her 16th birthday), after riding her bike home from school she gets into an accident and ruins her bicycle. She stumbles into a house that is owned by a live-in psychic. The psychic then tells her some shocking news---that she comes from a bloodline of witches and has special powers!! Louise finds that she has the ability to do whatever she wants! And what does she choose?? To become the most popular girl in high school of course!!! Anyways, yall should Netflix this if you haven't seen it. She makes out (which was a lil risque at the time) with Dan Gauthier. Dan totally looks like Tom Cruise to me. Well at least back then anyway. By the way, am I saying the word "totally" too many times??? Sorry I'm, in high school girl mode right now.

Anywho....so then Robin appeared in the 3rd sequel to The Karate Kid. She was in a movie to that other Whatever Happened To Guy....memba him?? She wasn't really in the movie that long and I was kinda jealous of her becuz she was Ralph Macchio's love interest and I had an uber crush on him back in the day. Oh yeah and remember that short lived prime time Southern soap Savannah? Wasn't it on the WB or somethin? I dunno I remember I watched a few episodes and got bored quick. After that it seems that Robin dissapeared...in my eyes anyway.

From the looks of her IMDB profile she's still working. Making a recent appearance on 30 Rock (I gotta start watchin that show). It appears she's mainly doing small screen TV stuff. Has anyone seen her lately? How does she look? How did Blake take her place so quickly?? I liked Robin better! Nobody messes with my Louise!! You hear me?!?

Sorry...got a lil mental there. We need you back on the map Robin. She needs like a major recurring role on a hit TV show---like Grey's Anatomy or maybe do some reality TV like Dancing With The Stars. Oh wellz...only time will tell.

80's Nostaligia Time: Hunk

OMG I sooo remember this movie. I had a total crush on Hunk Golden. He looked exactly like my Ken doll and I remember naming my Ken doll Hunk Golden whenever he took barbie out on dates....uuhhh okay TMI I guess. But remember this movie about this nerd who is a complete loser and wants to become uber cool and makes this deal with the Devil who looks a lil like Kelly Lebrock??? She turns him into a complete hunk!!

So whatever happened to the actor who playd Hunk Golden? I IMDB'ed him and he's not soo hunky anymore. But he could still get it. I'll be his Barbie if asked me to.

Well if you don't remember the movie I posted the trailer to the film below just to refresh. Gawd I miss sappy cheesy 80s movies.

Whatever Happened To Jim Caviezel?

Remember Jim Caviezel became the "It Guy" after Passion Of The Christ came out? He was like everywhere. I mean most film buffs already knew Jim from films like Angel Eyes and Frequency. I was watching The Final Cut---a craptacular film by the way that I will blog about later---and I saw Jim Caviezel and immediately thought...hey whatever happened to him?
Of course I was prompted to instantly go to my Bible--that is IMDB--pun intended of course, and look for Jim to see what he's been up to. He's got 3 movies updated and 2 are set to be released this year. So we will be seeing more of James in the future months. Thank GOD right???

He is one of those actors that are very talented but low-key. Kinda like the Jeffrey Wrights and Joseph Gordon-Levitts of the cinema world. You hear about them once every few years and then they fall off the radar. I just PRAY that Jim will keep up with the movies, becuz he's amazing to watch. I love it when he plays the disturbed creepy guy roles too....it's kinda sexy.
Anyways good to know he's alive and well and still acting. I was getting concerned cuz you gotta admit, it's been a minute since he's come out with anything...the last film he was in was Deja Vu. JC is my homeboy! Oh yea, and that other JC guy is too...hee hee :)

80's Nostaligia Time: Casual Sex?

Remember that movie
Casual Sex? Caught it on HBO the other day and I gotta say, this movie was slightly ahead of its time back in 88 when it was made. Cuz it speak volumes to the anorexic dating crisis among women today. It's really hard to find a man these days, let's see women have a few obstacles in their way like....HIV/AIDS, downlow brothaz, ratio of gay men to straight women in Manhattan, flaky guys, creeps, assholes, jerks, morons, one timers, fetish fiends, soccer players, brainacs, dykes posing as men, and last but certainly not least....the ultimate NICE GUY. What do women have left to find? Where can she find Mr. Right? Well the film Casual Sex? is about two girlfriends (not lesbians) who decide to go to a Health Spa retreat to not only find the right guy but to find themselves.

Love is found in the least likely of places and people in this 80's comedy starring
Lea Thompson, Victoria Jackson, and Andrew Dice Clay....yea, that guy. Whatever happened to him anyway??. It's an 80's flick so expect a little campiness and cheese, but it's good for single women who really are having a hard time in the dating circuit. Especially women who tend to be so damn picky. The film was directed by a chick and written by chicks. Pretty cool stuff huh? Not sure if this is an indie...but it's an 80's classic.

Nostalgia Time! Remember MTV's The State?

Ya know I remember this show from MTV and thought it was the funniest sketch comedy show since In Living Color. When it got canceled I got so mad that I actually wrote to MTV about it.
Damn, was it that serious? It was for me. I LOVED The State!

The State was a half hour sketch comedy show that aired on MTV back in the early 90’s. It was a group of 11 twenty-something comedians who did all of the production associated with the show. They wrote, edit, directed, and produced the episodes. Some people compared the cast to those Canadians from Kids In The Hall. I disagree, Kids In The Hall was a different type of humor. The only similarities were The State cast members consisted on 10 guys and 1 girl and because there was only one chick, some of the guys had to dress in drag to play multiple female roles. Ya know, like how they did back in Shakespeare’s day??

The State’s comedy sketches may not be that memorable to all because unlike, In Living Color, they didn’t have a large number of recurring sketches. So many of them may not resonate with us like Homey Da Clown or Fire Marshall Bill does.

The one sketch that stuck in MY mind though was of Doug. Doug was this rebellious teen that despised his “wannabee oh-so-cool” Dad who produces songs for Bob Dylan. His Dad is down for anything…even smoking weed with Doug’s slacker buddies. What allows this sketch (as opposed to other sketches) to remain indelibly printed on my brain is Doug’s famous catch line…”I’m outta heeeeere”. I used to say that line over and over with my frenz and famz. It was cool and even occasionally out of nowhere I’ll find myself saying and think….where does that line come from?? Oh yeah!!! The State!!

I lost all hope and thought life was over once The State ended its run on MTV. Other sketch comedy shows emerged from other networks but never had the panache that The State did. Then a few years after the show was canceled, the cast members of The State did a pilot for Comedy Central called Viva Variety. It was their final plea to get the show re-aired on Comedy Central and it was even nominated for an Emmy. Unfortunately though, the show was never picked up.

I lost hope again and decided to ban Comedy Central for life. How could you do this? First MTV, which I would expect them to cancel high quality programming in exchange for craptacular fertilized mush, but Comedy Central? A network
devoted to making audiences all over the world laugh???

I decided not to hold my breath and think with optimism. Then a miracle occurred. The birth of Reno 911! There is a God! I noticed Reno was deficient a few of The State’s original cast members (which made me a little sad) but I nonetheless, I liked that this show was an improvisationalish sketch comedy that featured these former cast members and most of all…it made me laugh!!!!

About the cast:

So these guys all went to school together at NYU and they appeared on MTV’s “You Wrote It Watch It” which led to their success of The State.
You can go
here for the official website.

So who are these cast member I speak of? They are:

Kevin Allison – the red-headed gay guy

Michael Ian Black – he’s in like every VH-1 Best Week Ever commentary

Ben Garant – the skinny one who played Sid Vicious

Todd Holoubek – he was the quiet one (and he’s the bald guy in the pic)

Micheal Patrick Jann – he directed most of the episodes.

Kerri Kenny – the only girl and now plays Trudy on Reno 911

Thomas Lennon – he was always the funniest one and has some nice legs!

Joe Lo Truglio – I loved it when he plays the high school guy in the varsity letter jackets!

Ken Marino – the hot sexy one who wants to “dip his balls in it!”

Micheal Showalter- he played Doug and was funny as hell! One of my favorites.

David Wain – the funny guy with the glasses

You can go on iFilm and catch 5 episodes from the show. Here is a clip from episode 5. Funny shtuff!!! Also the new film Reno 911!: Miami features all of the former cast members.

Whatever Happened To Eddie Furlong?

Remember the cutie from Terminator 2? I remember when Eddie Furlong came out and he was plastered on the cover of every Teeny Bop magazine in circulation in the 1990’s. I can’t believe he was only 14 years old when he made that movie!! The role of John Connor in T2: Judgement Day propelled his career above and beyond what anyone could have ever imagined.
He had this cute young rebellious look goin on. The dark hair that covered his eye, the crooked smile, the black wardrobe. He had a mystery to his personality that we were all trying to unravel and
expose. Then I remember I saw him in one of the worst sequels ever Pet Sematary 2, but I forgave it, because he was so hot. I mean it’s Eddie Furlong, who cares if the movie sucked, the eye candy alone made it worth watching.

I remember hearing that he was dating his tutor at the ripe old age of 16 and his tutor was like twice his age. She was robbin the cradle! But who wouldn’t rob Eddie’s cradle? He was hot at 16, and I’m sure he knew A LOT more than what most 16 year olds his age knew.
He made some more hit films after that like Detroit Rock City and American History X. But then slowly but surely his career sorta just went downhill. Okay first of all…red flag here folks he started sating Natasha Lyonne for 2 years.
Click here to see why dating Natasha Lyonne was an utter mistake.

Then he slowly started to get in trouble with the law. He was arrested in West Hollywood for driving without a license and then causing a car wreck while under the influence. No Eddie no!!!! His mugshot is not his best look, but I’ve seen worse.

Then Eddie just sorta dropped off the face of the planet. Or at least the U.S. Apparently, he’s like a phenomenon in Japan. He has like a solid music career out there. Kinda like Hasslehoff and his German company. So to us here, we may have wondered why he left, but to the rest of the world, he never did.

Furlong’s makin a comeback though. Terminator 4 is in the talks and his is being sought to reprise the role of John Connor. Thank God! I really hope he makes a solid comeback. Furlong needs it. Now that he’s settled down and with a wife and kid, maybe he’ll make better decisions in his life. So long Furlong? We hope not.

Whatever Happened To Michael Winslow?

Remember the dude that made the funny sounds with his mouth and hands from the Police Academy movies? Whatever happened to Michael Winslow? I mean he was like a huge star in the 80’s thanks to the plethora of Police Academy sequels.

He was also a stand-up comedian and had the best acts with simply making noises and doing voice impersonations of crazy characters. I loved his act. Did you guys know he played the voice of some of the Mogwais and Gremlins in the Joe Dante flick Gremlins?? I mean we all know Howie Mandel played Gizmo, but Winslow was also present as the cute lil furry Mogs and the creepy scaly Grems…

After the Police Academy franchise disappeared so did his career…or so it seems. He played minor roles in Dlist films in the 90’s. He even did some Television. I can’t believe he was on Baywatch Nights. He had to have known his career was officially dead when he made that decision.

Recently he has done voice spots on Robot Chicken (I love that show!). He is also appearing in the movie spoof Coming Attractions which has sort of got the Kentucky Fried Movie montage vibe going on.

Wouldn’t that be cool if they came up with Police Academy: The Reunion?

Whatever Happened To Mia Sara?

So as some of you may or may not know, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off aired this weekend on Comedy Central. It’s such a good movie to watch and I always sit down and see it like it’s the first time. But while watching it, I couldn't help but wonder….whatever happened to Mia Sara?

I remember I first saw her in
Legend. Oh I loved that movie! Back when Tom Cruise was sane and banging Rebecca De Mornay and every little girl wanted to be Princess Lily. Awwwz! It was like one of the first fantasy movies that every kid in the 80’s adored. Then of course we remember seeing Mia in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as Sloane Peterson. Seeing Mia and Matthew in that role just reminded me that a monogamous boyfriend/girlfriend relationship CAN exist in High School. They were such lovebirds in the flick, and it was so sweet to see. Every girl WANTED to be Sloane Peterson in that movie. Her boyfriend gave her everything she wanted! She skipped school, got fine dining, went to a cool museum and drove in a really hot car-- that wasn’t her boyfriend’s but still…cool as hell right?

After that film, she appeared in a lot of TV shows and some no name movies. I remember seeing her in the Jean Claude Van Damme flick
Timecop, but aside from that, not much about her career sticks in my mental Rolodex.

Oh wellz. So sad, cuz she was such a pretty girl. Does anyone know what she’s been up to lately? I hear she lives in New York City, so it be cool to run into her and ask her…what happened to your career girl?

Nah, just kiddin, I probably wouldn’t recognize her if I saw her on the street. I’m sure she doesn’t look like Sloane Peterson anymore.

Whatever Happened To Rae Dawn Chong?

She sorta just was forgotten about after 1990. Honestly the last film I can recall seeing her in was Tales From The Darkside: The Movie, she became this demonic figure in the scary tale after a lover's vow was broken. Kinda freaky. But after that, I really haven't seen her.

Looking her up on IMDB though, she's been in a large number of films and TV shows. Who woulda thunk it? I mean, in the 80's she was a star. Films like Beat Street, The Color Purple, Soul Man, The Squeeze, and The Principal were all films we remember seeing this famous daughter of Tommy Chong in. She's actually in a film that was released last week called Constellation. Who knew?

I always loved this woman's hair and admired it. She was so pretty in her heyday and I thought she coulda done so much better than marry soul man himself :C. Thomas Howell. But then they got divorced and she just fell off. She worked in 2006 and has a film coming out called Solitaire. but besides that.....
I just hope she gets back into Hollywood, cuz I miss seein that girl with the curly wavy long hair who always seemed so sweet and timid.

Whatever Happened To Taimak?

Hey, so Taimak didn't exactly acquire world class fame, but he's remembered most from his role as Leroy Green in The Last Dragon . Wow, thatz taking it back ain't it? Remember that movie with Vanity?

Vanity...wow we should totally do a Whatever Happened to Her archive right?

Anyways, when I did a Google search on Taimak I came across his own website. And can I just say, DAMN he's hot!!! Wow age has done him well. And according to IMDB he actually worked last year. He was in a film called They're Just My Friends with Malik Yoba. His character was Captain Taimak? Ok, has anyone seen this movie? Please let us know about it because it sounds kinda interesting. I must admit with guilt that I'm sorta intrigued.

Anywayz, here is the website if you are also curious what happened to this actor.

Once you see the photos on the site, you'll understand why this blog was filed under the "Sexy bitches" archive.

Whatever Happened To Wil Wheaton?

Remember Wil Wheaton? The cute kid from Stand By Me? Or the Mafia's boss' son in Toy Soldiers? Okay, okay, how about Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation? There you go...now you know who I'm talkin about. What happened to that guy? He just sorta like...disappeared.

Well I decided to do my research (which is basically just typing his name in IMDB) and after long treacherous hours of scrutinizing and probing for information, I found out what he's been doing! He's actually been doing voice-over work for video games and animated TV shows. WTF?? C'mon Wil you can't look that bad that you've now subjected yourself to being a voice-over actor. Has anyone seen Wil lately? Does he look horrid? Is he like deformed or something? Why is he doing voice-overs? I mean this was like the most updated photo we could find of him and it aint bad.

Please let us know here at NYIndieSeen if you are able to solve this mystery. I miss seeing his cute lil face. Wil where are you?????

What Ever Happened To Ralph Macchio?

Did he just fall off the face of the planet? According to IMDB, he actually worked in 2006. Probably some straight to video piece of trash that probably got some financing because Macchio agreed to appear in the film. Or maybe not? We don't know, but we do know that he is nowhere on the scene.

Remember he was the lil cutie Johnny Cade in Outsiders? Wow the Outsiders. That's takin it back for me right now. Hotness. Umm...anywayz, he sorta just slowly dissipated away after he did all the Karate Kid movies. I mean he was in My Cousin Vinny, which was a hilarious comedy that earned Marisa Tomei an Oscar. But then we sorta forgot about him after that. What happened Ralphie? Where'd you go? He's not even cute anymore...I'm saddened by that. :::SIGH::: I guess some actors age gracefully and some just don't.

Well Mr. Myagi is dead so we can't really resurrect the Karate Kid franchise anymore. I mean, it seems bringing back classic 80's films is a new trend in Hollywood these days, since the release of Rocky Balboa and the soon-to-be-released Die Hard 4, Live action Transformers movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flicks. Oh wellz. I guess all we have left are the memories of what it was like growing up in the 80's and going to the movies to see that cute little Ralph Macchio Beat the shit outta some wooden boards!
Cobra Kai 4 life!!!! Suckas!!

Indie Seen Favorite: Neve Campbell

Neve Campbell, can I tell you how much i used to love this girl?
Anybody remember that period in the mid to late 90's when Scream had just come out and became this huge hit, and everybody was talking about the resurgence of the horror genre and Hollywood's new focus on the teenage demographic.
Entertainment weekly, Newsweek and every other publication at the time did articles with titles like "Teen Steam" and the "New Hollywood Brat pack".
then the WB started focusing on angsty whiny teens with issues and Jennifer love hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, And those Dawsons Creek kids became like mega stars over night.
All these 17 magazine cover Kids started Popping up in a different teen-Flick a week: remember The Faculty, She's All that, 10 thing I Hate about you, Disturbing behaviour, Can't hardly Wait?
yeah, yeah you do, and I'm sure you have some of these gems hidden in your DVD collection too .

well one of the earliest insta-stars to come out of that whole craze was Canadian Actress
Neve Campbell.
At the time she was the star of the mega successful Scream Franchise, where she played perennial stalker victim Sydney Prescott, and the Hit Fox series Party of Five (it was All about the third season of Party of Five) which lead to her being honored as "the most believable teenager on television" by Time Magazine.

I think I may have been a bit obsessed with this one at the time. I'm not sure why. she had these cute little quirks about her.
Like she would touch her face all awkwardly in every other scene, or make these weird arm motions during a dramatic moment.
At the time I thought those were Majorly adorable traits, but looking back at it I've come to realize that those were the signs of a Not so good actress. She did basically the same thing in the whole series of P05, The Craft, and the Scream Sequels.

in 1998 she was sick of playing the sweet girl next door roles and went all bad ass in the excellent John Mcnaughton film Wild Things, where she played bisexual schemer Suzie Toller.
that film became most notable for that skinemax moment of a threesome with Denise Richards, Campbell and Matt Dillon in a sleazy hotel room.
The Movie was a guilty pleasure, critics loved it and Neves "Q" went up a few notches.
Not so well received however was her next turn in the abysmal and reportedly heavily altered Disco themed film 54, the film starred Ryan Phillippe as a go-go boy who gets caught up in the drugs and glam of the infamous 1970's club. For a film that took place in the debauchery of 54 it was surprisingly tame and boring. It was a choppy confusing mess and they also reportedly cut out some hot man on man action between Ryan Phillippe and Breckin Meyers in the movie (Blasphemy!!)
In it Neve Campbell played some sort of Soap Actress who becomes Phillippe's love interest.. nevermind the fact that they had absolutely no chemistry together, but the relationship in the film felt tacked on and Wholly unnecessary.
The Film bombed and deservedly so.
Neves next Mistake was as the Female lead in a Mathew Perry comedy
Three to tango.
I personally adored this movie, cause Neve was in it at her awkwardly cute best, but I was able to step back and see that had she not been in the film I would have seen it for what it really was, A predictable schmaltzy Hollywood Rom-Com that wasn't particularly Funny, but props to Oliver platt who costarred as a sassy gay guy, and managed to come away from this one mostly unscathed. (honestly Oliver Platt should play a sassy gay guy in every crappy movie that comes out. It would make it ten times more digestible

Examp: "From Justin to Kelly To Oliver," I love it)

After the End of her television series Party of Five in 2000, Neve saw herself delving into more Independent Film roles, which is always the sign of an actress attempting to be taken seriously. she was rewarded with critically acclaimed turns in "Investigating Sex", Robert Altman's "The Company" and the Henry Bromell film "Panic" opposite William H Macy.
while the critics noted that her technique had been improving remarkably, her lack of a

bona-fide hit movie in some time or particularly interesting personal life lead to the significant Dimming of her star wattage and she basically fell off of every ones Radar.

Neve campbell, is still out there working in indie movie land, I'm not sure if this is now by choice or because she has no other options. but she recently appeared in the James Toback film "When will I be Loved" where she was subjected to Mainly Favorable reviews. ( its also the first movie where she throws away that pesky no nudity clause she had and gets butt ass naked).
she also appears in the straight to video Danny Devito Comedy Relative strangers and is set to costar in the Drama "The Death of Harry Tobin" in 2008.

Honestly I'm not sure where things went wrong with this one, Actually yeah I kind of do. Alot of people I used to confess my love for her too would always complain about how she was so annoying, and couldn't act and had an irritating voice.
Then we'd inevitably get into a heated shouting match about it, in a fit of rage someone would "accidentally" get stabbed with that scissor that was laying on my desk and I would have to hide the bodies. It was an incredibly tacky habit.
but now that i think about it in the beginning she could get a little annoying, no matter what movie i was watching

It was always me watching "Neve Campbell" Act in a movie. (except when it came to her turn in that awful Blind Horizon movie and then it was me falling asleep to Neve Campbell acting in a movie.)

its not to late for Neve to make a comeback, I mean she's still cute, she could go for that whole Sandra bullock awkward leading lady thing, pop up in some goofy romantic comedies.
First of course, she'll have to do Scream 4 to get her name back out there, maybe start Banging Ashton Kutcher or Wilmer Valderlamya or something or get into some asinine feud with Posh spice to get back in to the papers,

(why posh spice?, why not?)
and Viola' she's BACK.
it's that easy!
So Neve. Start Banging and hopefully will be seeing you on the big screen again soon.

Love ya bitch!

P.S. Why are they taking forevez to release season 3 of Party of Five on DVD, I mean WTF!!
Lets get it together people!

Whatever Happened To? Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze. Yum. Whenever you think of the name Patrick Swayze only one movie comes to mind....Dirty Dancing. The film is not really known for being an indie per se, but its a film that stays indelibly printed of the minds of filmLovers everywhere. We think of Johnny Castle and poor little naiive Baby making out in the dance studio and seeing them dance up a storm at in the final scene of the movie.

But our question here at NYIndieSeen is: What happened to Patrick Swayze?

Well he came out with a few hits after that. Remember Next Of Kin? Or the famous booty scene in Roadhouse? Ok ok, well maybe this one will jog your memory...how about Ghost? Now we're talkin. Well it seems like after he hit the skinz with Demi in that movie his career sorta...plummeted. Damn I guess Demi does have that effect on people...just look at Ashton Kutcher's career.

Well he did come back with that awesome surfer movie Point Break, but then Keanu said that line in the movie that will later become Patick Swayze's own fate...."He's Not Comin Back". And you know what? Swayze never came back? He left without telling us. Where did you go baby?

He did make some attempts at indie flicks such as Black Dog, Letters From A Killer, and Donnie Darko. He made an appearnace in the revolting film as a dance instructor in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Uggh! How could he do that?!? Then he just sorta fell off. Why? We liked you? You looked sexy in those tight azz black spandex. Oh wellz.

What Really Happened To Patrick Swayze?

He got Old.

Whatever Happened to?: Natasha Lyonne

I used to love this chick, I remember she first popped up on my radar in the 1998 Tamara Jenkins film, The Slums of Beverly hills, where she played a slightly lesbonic adolescent coming into her own as a woman.
then she got us even more hooked, by being the best thing about the American Pie movies as the snarky, slightly lesbonic girl with all the experience and all of the answers,
and of course who could forget her role as Megan, the teenage lesbian sent to a special De-gaying camp, in the hilarious Jamie Babbit, flick But I'm a Cheerleader.
we loved her, and we wanted more.
She threw that straight to video Freeway sequel and that lame-O movie about Kiss into the mix and we still thought she was bad ass.

turns out this chick was just a bit too bad ass.
After her turn in 2004's Blade Trinity we hadn't heard much from her, We started to miss her, she wasn't popping up in as many movies anymore and I intended to find out why.
So after some detailed investigation ( Gossiping with some friends). I got the scoop on what Really happened to our old pal Natash.

Bitch is a mess!
in August 2001 she was arrested in Miami Beach for ramming her car into a street sign and then trying to flee the scene. It only got worse after that

At the time she was also living in an apartment on east 18th street that was owned by actor Michael Rappaport.
Other tenants reported she was basically High all the time, Loud and Belligerent.
so after Natasha basically terrorized all of her neighbors, threatening to rape there dogs and what not

There was even word that she had veered all the way Down to crack-pipe road.

Girls been Busy,
I don't understand how you can go from being such a promising young actress, to being Homeless, roaming the streets of NY offering up sloppy blow jobs for pocket change
( I'm assuming a bitch gotta eat somehow)
Who knows maybe she still has some of that Blade Trinity money and didn't have to resort to ass selling.
whatever the case, gurl you need to get it together, Find Jesus, Islam , Tom cruise something.

Cause, "beat-down-druggie," is NOT a good look..... just ask THIS chick.
its time to clean it up, and work on that comeback, if she can do it so can you.
Those pseudo Lesbian roles aren't gonna play themselves.
I mean , lets wake up people!
Crack is soooo Whack.
